Dedicated to the many talented but depressingly young artists I've met on DeviantArt and the Homestuck forums etc.

My Phd did teach me lots of skills like public speaking and research etc, but I can't remember the last time I actually used it, even when I was working.

Panel 1: Wow this artist is amazing! I hope I can draw like that one day.

Panel 3: Yeah, well...I bet they don't have a Phd in computational mathematics!

Don't feel bad, the public speaking and research will pay for itself many times over. And at least your degree is in something people think is hard, not like international relations.

Oh, sure, the general Phd skills have been quite handy (I'm unfortunately too sick to work right now, but they was useful when I was healthier)

But the actual specific work on computational mathematics is mainly useful for impressing people :) I do always feel sorry for people with qualifications in humanities and social sciences etc, they really don't seem to get the respect they deserve despite being just as hard in their own way.

I ALWAYS feel bad when I see someone about my
age who is so much better than me in drawing...
But then I tell myself:
You don't draw to be ''the Best''
You draw because you LOVE IT!!!
